My path to user experience (UX) started with building homes and learning carpentry, followed by working on private jets – building and overhauling interiors, and then leaping into graphic and web design; which brings me to the present. My journey has definitely been an unconventional designer career path that I’m very proud of. Along my journey of jobs and life lessons I’ve learned that not being average or conventional is more than okay, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I consider myself a “multipotentialite”, a term coined by Emilie Wapnick in her TED talk, Why some of us don't have one true calling. I thoroughly enjoy learning new skills. Each new skill I’ve learned has shown a return on investment at least once and some many times over. It has been fun to see a variety of skills I've learned over the years prove to be invaluable in design thinking, collaboration, and in leadership.
Building homes and aircraft interiors both start with plans (or blueprints) to see the bigger picture. My approach to user experience design is the same. I visualize a hypothesis, validate with research and testing, strategize how create it, and execute the strategy until the vision comes to life. I've done this many times in my home, building a new office/studio space as well as an addition. The process of design thinking followed by crafting something with my own two hands is so gratifying.
Creating thoughtful experiences is what keeps me going day after day. Whether it‘s preparing to host a party at home or designing a digital product. The process to get there is what satisfies that 'itch'. That's why I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities. Complacency does not settle well with me. I become unsettled and anxious. I consider this an asset as it reminds me to keep moving.

Most of my experience lies in design thinking and visual design. However, I have a fun background of learning many valuable, and complimentary skills in my lifetime such as carpentry, photography, graphic design, playing the drums and guitar, and continually challenging myself with DIY projects around the house.
All I want in life is to become a better version of myself every single day. I thoroughly enjoy learning new things, problem-solving, and simply riding this wave called life. But when it comes to setting goals, I want to work on meaningful projects with awesome people. I want to cultivate the existing drive of a great team to make incredibly natural-feeling experiences in a digital space.
